So How is Ashley Doing?

Just hung up the phone after talking with our Miss Connecticut. Ashley loves LA!!! And sends big hellos to all our pageant family members, especially her sister queen Corrina and a big hug and smile to Peggy. Let me summarize our conversation: She flew out to LA and her seatmate was Miss Massachusetts, they were excited they got to fly over the Grand Canyon. Met Ellen DeGeneres and stood a foot away from Mario Lopez. (Yes, she said he’s cute!) The staff of Miss America treats them with class and style; they even travel in luxury motor coaches to appearances. When I asked where she was staying, she rapidly replied she couldn’t discuss it and we would have to wait for the Reality Check show to air in January. She said they were eating well, maybe to well! She also mentioned that Miss Oklahoma told her that she lost a spelling bee because she couldn’t spell “Connecticut” and had lunch with Miss America and discovered they had a lot in common. She wished she could tell us more, but she signed a contract agreeing not to talk about the filming. Once again reminding me that we’d have to wait for the airing of the show on TLC in January. Before hanging up, she wanted me to thank everyone and especially the board for all their great support. I’ll keep you informed as we hear from her again. Luis

Hello Connecticut

| What a great day! Great to see so many dear supporters of our program today. I can’t believe that our 2008- 09 pageant season is here! Despite the weather, our Kick-off Meeting went very well and the attendance at the Judges School was extraordinaire. Over 30 people attended the seminar from former Miss Connecticut’s, Local Pageant Committee members, Contestants’ parents and many new faces. Bill Hagerty Co-Executive Director of the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program facilitated today’s seminar. His insight and years of pageant experience gave our attendees the opportunity to learn about judging in the Miss America System in a relaxed and informative seminar. We hope and wish that every local pageant judges’ chair will take use of our newly certified judges. Today’s seminar attendees are all current, up-to-date and knowledgeable in the Miss America Organization judging process. We will be distributing our new judges list this week. As explained to us today, “Miss America is moving forward with the times, it’s 2008 and the “It” girls are what its all about.” Thanks to all that attend. Luis Pabon Executive Director |
