Southington 2009

Southington's Outstanding Teen Alyssa Blanchette, Miss Southington 2008 Sharalynn Kuziak, Miss Southington 2009 Shannon Erickson and Plantsville's Outstanding Teen Lynze Khan

Southington Did It!
About 10 days ago it looked like the Southington Pageant might have to be postponed, delayed or even canceled! Executive Director Joanne Salerno suffered a great lost when her mother unexpectedly passed away. We were approached by Cindy Simone who offered to step in and make the pageant happen! Cindy and her family joined together with Miss Southington 2008 Sharalynn Kuziak and make it happen she did!!
They put together a great pageant offering a great scholarship to the winner, entertainment and the announcement of Outstanding Teen’s Southington Alyssa Blanchette and Plantsville Lynze Khan. Emcee Tom Chute kept the pace moving and within two hours a new Miss Southington 2009 Shannon Erickson was crowned.
The Connecticut organization salutes the Southington Committee and especially Cindy Simone for a job well done.

52 Contestants Begin Their Weekend

With Pancakes and Serenades

Contestants Start Their Day Off By Raising Awareness for National Pancake Day

As they gear up for 2009 Miss America Pageant on TLC January 24, the 52 contestants armed with forks and spatulas and donning aprons and their state sashes, gathered in Las Vegas for a pancake breakfast in honor of Children's Miracle Network.

Contestants hoped to raise awareness about IHOP's National Pancake Day celebration, a nationwide fundraising effort that aims to raise $1 million for Children's Miracle Network programs at children's hospitals and other local charities throughout the United States.

IHOP's fourth National Pancake Day celebration benefiting Children's Miracle Network is set to take place February 24, 2009, when nearly 1,400 IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer guests a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network and other local charities.  With a goal to raise more than $1 million, funds will benefit children's hospitals throughout the U.S.

Miss Connecticut visits Extreme Home Makeover
12/10/2008 5:33:16 PM
Miss Connecticut 2008 Ashley Glenn was invited to work in the Home Show tent by Matt Ostrowski from Creative Enclosures.  There she greeted spectators as they were bussed in and helped collect donations for the Girard family.  She met Bruce "Bruno" Hayn, who is the man in charge of the build and he gave her a personal tour of the interior of the home under construction.  She also had the opportunity to meet with some cast members from the show and got an inside look at how things are progressing.  Ashley had the opportunity to watch the action unfold all day; it was a very special day (and very cold).
